The R&BM project refers to the Red and Blue Chair (1917–1923), an emblematic work of the De Stijl movement designed by Gerrit Rietveld.
Conceived to exist primarily within the field of art, R&BM reflects on the transformation of objects once regarded as functional design furniture into cultural icons. In this shift, both status and original function have, in my view, migrated from design toward art.
By translating this legacy into marble, the project materializes this conceptual displacement, emphasizing permanence, monumentality, and reinterpretation.
